Just after exposing my film for the North Tower and Rocks image, I drove up into the Golden Gate Headlands, which overlooks the bridge from the north. My goal in this multi-image project for the Bank of America was to portray the bridge as a symbol of strength. I felt the constant flow of cars was distracting for my purpose. I like to joke about what an ordeal it was to get the California Highway Patrol to shut down the traffic for my few moments, but the truth is I stacked a strong neutral density and red filter on the lens and was able to extend my exposure time to about 8 seconds...long enough to let the cars and trucks blur themselves into oblivion.
