It was early June of 1994, and I had been in Santa Fe, New Mexico not quite a year. A great photo-friend from New York (Willie Osterman) was just about to start teaching a workshop in the Four Corners area of the Southwest, and I decided to take advantage of my new proximity to such great photo-country. We met up in Arches National Park for a day or two before his workshop started.

In spite of it being prime tourist season, we were amazed and delighted that there were relatively few other visitors there. It was a real treat to be able to get my 8x10 camera set up with a wonderful view of Courthouse Valley and a lovely sky with no one else in the scene! Magic!
