I was in Tucson in early October 1976, attending an Ansel Adams lecture at the University of Arizona’s barely year-old Center for Creative Photography. Two days later, I had the wonderful pleasure of spending a day driving around southern Arizona with the University’s President and Center founder, John Schaefer. In the afternoon we stumbled upon an old abandoned mine site with a few remaining adobe building ruins. One of them caught my eye with wonderful light framing an empty window and door and remnants of mud-streaked stucco and adobe brick wall. 4x5 Ilford FP-4
