One of the “miracles” in these days of advancing digital imaging is that we can now “see” light that we humans cannot actually see... infrared!
I first stumbled onto this amazing new world back in 2014 when I discovered that my little Leica D-Lux 6 digital camera was native sensitive to infrared! (It was made by Panasonic, and similar Panasonic models were also IR sensitive.) I was hooked. I had done some IR work back in the late 1990’s with 4x5 film, but any results were strictly a matter of "wild guess!" With digital, you can set the live view to black-and-white and know exactly what you can capture.
During my Cuba workshop in January of 2019, our group spent a lovely time in some plantain groves where my IR camera let me capture this amazing scene of verdant wonder! I also discovered that plantains grow upside down...who knew!
