In 2013, I decided to do a workshop in one of my favorite places: Tuscany! I had a former student who grew up in Siena and still lived in the area. With his help and knowledge of the local landscape, we all had an absolutely fabulous time.
Once we said our goodbyes to the group, my wife and I were free to do a little exploring. Croatia had been on our radar for a bit, so we decided to rent a car and head to the other side of the Adriatic Sea. The countryside was stunning, and the people were wonderful.
We spent nearly a week in and around Split. One of our favorite spots was the nearby coastal town of Trogir. We didn’t know about it before we went, but one of the big attractions in Trogir is a largely intact 15th century castle. Since we were on “holiday,” I was not lugging my 4x5 camera around, but was experimenting with my first “serious” digital camera...a Canon 5D Mark II. I made several photographs wandering around in the castle interior, then became captivated with some wonderful light coming through a barred window. I wanted the image to glow, so I allowed much of the light outside the window to peak through and was able to record some wonderful texture and tonality in the brick and stonework interior.

Limited Edition Prints signed and numbered in an edition of 100. Each print is made personally by me, printed either on Ilford Multigrade Classic fiber paper and selenium toned or on Canson Platine paper using a Canon Pro-1000 printer and my personal printing profiles. Mounted and over-matted on 4-ply or 8-ply museum board using the most current industry standards for archival permanence.
