In October of 2023, we were in Yosemite for our “film-only” workshop for The Ansel Adams Gallery. It had been raining on and off for the day or so before the workshop started. One afternoon when we were out scouting locations for the workshop group, the rain stopped and a bit of sun was poking itself out. We had stopped at one of my favorite spots, Gates of the Valley, and the light was so beautiful I just had to get my cameras out. I captured the scene from a slightly different vantage point than my "usual," which let me balance the view of the grand scene with the foreground vegetation.
